Outdoor Programs: "Let’s Go Exploring"

Nature Walk: 60 minutes
Suitable for Ages 5 – 11

On this Guided Nature Walk at the Norristown Farm Park, children look for scenes and animals from Bark! Bark! Bark for My Park!. They visit a variety of habitats, discover evidence of wildlife living at the park, and are introduced to some methods field biologists use to study free-ranging animals.

    • Maximum of 25 children
    • One teacher or chaperone required for every 8 children

Nature Walk and "What Is It?" Game: 120 minutes
Suitable for Ages 5 – 11

In addition to the Nature Walk described above, children can play a knowledge and guessing game in which they have an opportunity to identify, touch, and learn about objects and animals gathered that morning from various areas in the park.  Demonstrations introduce additional field techniques for studying free-ranging animals.

    • Maximum of 25 children
    • One teacher or chaperone required for every 8 children
    • Groups of up to 50 children can be accomodated by splitting the group and running the walk and game programs concurrently

Naturalists leading these programs are veterinarian and conservation educator Dr. Jessica Dimuzio and field biologist Dr. Tim Halverson.  Transportation to the Norristown Farm Park not provided but maps and driving instructions are available.
